The Old Wall
The Oldest Camphor Tree
Taiping Village in midsummer is full of vitality and everything is verdant. The 500-year-old The Oldest Camphor Tree at the entrance of the village safeguard the peace of the whole village like a tall and burly guardian. In the shade of the big tree, the vendors hawk the goods with their voices rising and falling. The surrounding markets, shops and restaurants are crowded with people. All of these turn the village bustling. At this moment, people may recollect the scene of the village in ancient times when merchants gathered to do the business here. How prosperous it was.
Xiongguan, anImportant Town
Taiping Village was called Hengdian in the old days, and was renamed Taiping Village in 1935. There are more than 800 households in the village with a population of more than 2,100, most of whom are Xing’s family.
In the past, Taiping Village was an important passageway for water and land transportation in the southwest of Shengzhou. The ancient main road of Shanxi, GuanRoad”, passes through the village to connect Ningbo and Shaoxing in the east and border Dongyang and Yiwu in the west. Changle River was the waterway that can reach the urban area of Shengzhou, making it convenient for people to travel.
Traveling around the village in a hurry, I can only enjoy the view and learn history of the village roughly. But Taiping Village leaves a deep impression on my mind.It boasts beautiful scenery, long history, simple folkway and peaceful life.
