Qifu Village has a long history and profound culture. The Xu family in the village enriches the culture of Shaoxing. The village is located in the transition zone from the mountainous area to the plain in the south of Shaoxing city, and is affiliated to Jianhu Street in Yuecheng District. It boasts a long history of more than 800 years and deep cultural deposit. The founder of Ancient Yue Library and Shaojun Chinese and Western School - Xu Yuelan and the famous modern bibliophiles - Xu Youlan and his son Xu Weize are all from Qifu Village.
Qifu Village lives by river. The most distinctive feature of the village is the Xugong Bridge. The name Xugong Bridgeoriginates from the Xu family in the village. The locals call it the great bridge. There is a three-hole sluice on the north of Xugong Bridge to adjust the water level of the stream. Xu Gongqiao has brought great convenience to the villagers and has been listed as a cultural relics protection site in Shaoxing.
Another famous bridge in the village is the three-joint bridge,which is also known as the three-section bridge and the three-legged bridge. The bridge is like an overpass that crosses the intersection of two streams in a Y shape and spans over three sections of river. It is a special bridge thatcould replace three bridges for use.
