There is a village called Shishe, 25 km from Shengzhou urban area,2 km fromthe Xiawang town government residence. Shishe village is surrounded by mountains and water, whose scenery is fascinating. The most amazing thing is that the village has 9 square kilometers of basalt volcanic joints. Shishe once had a famous family photo, which is taken under such basalt.
The "copper and iron wall" standing in front of people is the rare magic basalt, it is the natural wonder that only comes by accident.Basalt volcanic joints were formed in the Tertiary or the early Quaternary of the geological age about 2.5 million years ago. It was formed by intermittent volcanic eruptions, cooling and weathering of magma. Its shape is columnar, with positive polygon and very regular section. It is a magical natural landscape. More than 10 basalt volcanic jointed landscapes were found near the village. Stone pillars and stumps exposed regularly on high cliffs, stacked and clapped, like a row of wood, which is magnificent and spectacular. This is the largest and most intact columnar joint group after the discovery of Yunnan Tengchong, Taiwan, Peng Lake, Jilin Yitong, Fujian Zhangpu, Zhejiang Linhai and Datang Guang village of Dongyang.
